La Nava Estate belongs to the Medem
family, and is situated in the vicinity of Castellar de Santiago
(province of Cuidad Real), two and a half hours from Madrid airport.
La Nava’s 48,000 acres (20,000 hectares) make up what is considered
to be one of the most important shooting estates in Spain. The estate
supports many different game species on varied terrain across this
beautiful landscape. Hilly and mountainous areas (sierras) alternate
with farm land and tree-dotted pastures.
Partridge is the main quarry and the undulating contours of the
land enable a diverse selection of drives for gun lines between
2 and 12 guns. The shoot covers areas exclusively dedicated to the
rearing of
‘natural’ partridge maintaining the innate wild qualities
of the birds. The partridge are indigenous to the woodland and the
sierras, and are reared in their natural habitat. The broken terrain
offers wonderful
driven shooting showing high-flying partridges, flurrying from their
natural shelter.
Driven shooting takes place between October and February. The weather
can range from warm and sunny at the beginning and end of the season
to mild or cold during the middle months of the season. |
Reservations must be made as soon
as possible during the months of February, March, April and May
prior to the shooting season. La Nava offers other sporting activities,
including wild boar, deer and ibex hunting.
The lodge combines rustic elegance with stately living, and has
